Daily collegian: Think globally. Vote locally!

“On Nov. 6, Amherst is doing something for the first time: electing a Town Council. In March 2018, Amherst voted to reorganize its town government, creating a new era and new opportunities for the town. In this historic election, students should make their voices heard.” - Co-Authored with John Page (District 3) and Nicola Usher (District 1)

AMHERST BULLETIN: Millennials needed on Town Council

“Affordable housing is only one area where the perspectives of younger residents will improve the council. From transportation to better schools, Amherst residents in their 20s and 30s have important perspectives, experiences, and ideas.

This is one of the reasons I am running in District 4. I want to ensure that Amherst’s Town Council is generationally diverse. I hope that the broader Amherst community works to elect candidates from every generation.”

Affordable Housing for AmhersT CANDIDATE SURVEY

“As someone who has grappled with Amherst’s difficult rental market, I believe that renter voices belong at the table as Town Council discusses how to address housing. I see housing as one of Amherst’s most pressing challenges, and the first Town Council must make housing a priority.”

AMHERST FORWARD CANDIDATE SURVEY

“The shift in government is a big transition for Amherst. While some approach it with trepidation, it should be viewed as an exciting opportunity to build a government that is transparent, representative, and accountable. But it relies on electing people committed to making it work, open to collaboration and compromise, and who eschew rigid ideologies.”

DAILY COLLEGIAN CANDIDATE SURVEY

“Amherst is building a new government, and it shouldn’t be all the same people as the previous one. As a first-time candidate, I will bring a new voice and fresh face to Town government. As a Millennial, I will bring needed generational diversity. And as a renter, I will ensure that tenants have a seat at the table in government.”

MOTHERS OUT FRONT CANDIDATE SURVEY

“I am concerned by the Trump administration’s efforts to undo Obama’s climate policies. And here in Massachusetts I was deeply disappointed that the legislature did not adopt the Massachusetts Senate’s more ambitious Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) 3% annual rate increase. If we want to see a more rapid shift here in Amherst towards 100% renewable energy we will need to take action at the local level.”
